🌿 Simple tips from a farmer who grows greens with love
✅ 1. Store in the refrigerator at +2…+6°C (36–43°F)
This is the ideal temperature for microgreens. Place the container in the vegetable drawer or on the top shelf of the refrigerator (the temperature there is usually more stable).
📦 2. Do not open the package until you use it
The container is sealed for a reason — it keeps the right level of moisture and prevents the greens from drying out. Once opened, try to use the microgreens within 1–2 days.
If you need to open it earlier:
Close the container tightly afterward
You can place a paper towel inside to absorb excess moisture
💧 3. Don’t wash them in advance
Wash microgreens only right before serving. Excess moisture can make them spoil faster.
How to wash them properly:
Rinse gently under cold water
Pat dry with a paper towel or cloth
Use immediately
🧴 4. Don’t store them next to fruits
Apples, pears, and bananas release ethylene gas, which speeds up the aging of greens. Keep microgreens stored separately.
🌬 5. Let them breathe
If you transfer them to another container, avoid sealing it airtight. Microgreens need a little airflow; otherwise they can “suffocate.”
❓ Frequently asked questions
How long can microgreens stay fresh?→ 5–7 days with proper storage.
How can you tell if they have gone bad?→ If the greens are wilted, slimy, or have an unpleasant smell, it’s better not to eat them.
Can you freeze microgreens?→ No. Freezing destroys their structure and most of their nutritional value.
🌱 A tip from me
Microgreens are not meant for long storage. It’s best to order small batches and enjoy them fresh. I grow them in small quantities so you receive greens that were harvested the day before or even the same day as delivery.
Microgreens are a living product. They aren’t treated with chemicals, gas-flushed, or heavily sealed — and that’s exactly why they are so healthy. But with improper storage, even the freshest greens can wilt quickly.
These simple tips will help keep your microgreens fresh, crisp, and delicious for up to 7 days.
